What to bringīring colour pencils (we recommend better quality pencils such as Faber Castell which leave colour on the page easily). Students should enjoy drawing, have an interest in fashion and wish to experiment and extend skills. Students may be considering fashion or design study and need extra pages for portfolio or sketchbook. Please be aware that we will be looking at fashion images that may contain nudity. Create an exciting suite of drawings that incorporate movement, texture and colourĪll skills and abilities are welcome.

Gain a basic understanding of figure drawing and how to apply it to the fashion figure.Experiment with and learn to use a variety of art materials and drawing techniques.Learn about fashion illustration and some of the key artists working in this discipline, both historic and contemporary.Note this is not a technical course for fashion design or technical drawing for garment shapes, it is rooted in fine arts and illustration and takes inspiration from fashion. This course aims to extend confidence and ability in a fun studio environment. You will learn about fashion designers, fashion artists, trends and colour forecasting. Explore techniques in collage, pencil and a variety of media to push your drawings into an exciting suite of works that communicate movement, texture and colour. Working from images of the clothed model, you will experiment with drawing materials, then work to develop fundamental skills in drawing the human body. It would make for a very classy gift, framed in black with a white mat. If you have skill in free-handing, you can even make a portrait of someone you know using this technique. But, you know, you could also use it to make anatomically-correct fashion sketches featuring your own clothing designs. Some obvious suggestions would be to use it to make chic wall art or a striking sketchbook page. I am particularly proud of the tracing “hack” used in this contemporary fashion drawing because, truly, anyone can do it.Īt this point, it’s up to you what you’ll use this technique for. The goal of TPK is to make illustration and calligraphy accessible to everyone - I believe that you shouldn’t have to have fancy, specialized equipment to make something beautiful.
